Fast Facts: Wallace is recognized as one of the premiere sports car racers in the world. During his twenty-five plus years of racing, he has won the Rolex 24 At Daytona three times (’99, ’97, ’90), the 24 Hours of LeMans (’06 – LMP2, ’88), the 12 Hours of Sebring (’93, ’92), and the Petit LeMans (’99). He gave Crawford its first-ever win in Rolex Series competition at VIR in 2002 in the SSC2K and the first win for the DP03 Daytona Prototype at the Grand Prix of Miami (Homestead) in 2004. Wallace also serves as research and development driver for Crawford Race Cars. He teamed with Butch Leitzinger and NASCAR Nextel Cup Series Champion Tony Stewart at the Rolex 24 At Daytona and co-drove with Leitzinger in the #20 Jackson Hewitt-SUBWAY Pontiac Crawford for Howard Motorsports. He joined forces with Rob Finlay, Casey Mears and Danica Patrick in the No. 2 Gentleman Jack Pontiac Crawford in the 2009 Rolex 24 at Daytona and earned an 8th place overall finish. Andy will compete with Rob Finlay for the 2009 season in the No. 2 Childress Howard Pontiac Crawford.
Career Highlights:
2008 – Competed in LMP2 Class in the 24 Heures du Mans driving the #25 RML Racing entry with Mike Newton and Thomas Erdos. Andy spent the majority of 2008 developing the DP08 for Crawford Race cars competing in the Watkins Glen 200.
2007 – Raced in the ALMS driving the #16 Dyson LMP2 Porsche Spyder with three podium finishes resulting in 3rd in the championship. Competed in LMP2 Class in the 24 Heures du Mans driving the #25 RML Racing entry with Mike Newton and Thomas Erdos.
2006 – Won the LMP2 Class in the 24 Heures du Mans driving the #25 RML Racing entry with Mike Newton and Thomas Erdos. Andy teamed with Butch Leitzinger to earn five top-five finishes and eight top-ten finishes driving the #4 BOSS Snowplow Pontiac Crawford in the Rolex Series.
2005 – Scored only victory of the season at 6 Heures du Circuit Mont-Tremblant with co-drivers Jan Lammers and Milka Duno. Began the season with a hard fought 3rd-place podium finish at the Rolex 24 At Daytona teaming with Tony Stewart and Jan Lammers.
2004 – Scored two Rolex Series victories, winning both events at the Homestead-Miami Speedway with teammate Milka Duno. Teamed with Tony Stewart and Dale Earnhardt Jr. to dominate the Rolex 24 At Daytona until suspension problems with twenty minutes remaining resulted in a third place class finish. Recorded six podium finishes and finished third in overall driver points. Posted seven top-five and eleven top-ten finishes in twelve Rolex Series events.
2003 – Won the GTS class in the Rolex 24 At Daytona in only Rolex Series race of year. Finished first in class in ALMS events at Mosport, Road America, and Miami.
2002 – Made three Rolex Series starts in SRP class. Won at Virginia International Raceway in the SSC2K to give Crawford its first Rolex Series victory. Finished second at 12 Hours of Sebring, and fourth at 24 Hours of LeMans and Rolex 24 At Daytona. 2001 – Made four Rolex Series starts. Won pole for Six Hours of Watkins Glen. Best finish was second in Rolex 24 At Daytona. Finished second in ALMS events at Laguna Seca and third at Le Mans, Sebring, Petit Le Mans, and Portland.
2000 – Made six Rolex Series starts in SR class, earning victories at Daytona (250 miles) and Watkins Glen (6 Hours). Finished third at Phoenix and Mid-Ohio.
Early Career – Has worked with manufacturers Aston Martin, Audi, Bentley, BMW, Cadillac, Chrysler, Crawford, Ford, Jaguar, Lister, McLaren, Nissan, Panoz, Toyota, and Volkswagen on their test, development, and racing programs. Competed in Formula Ford 1600, Formula Ford 2000, Formula 3, Formula 3000, Formula 1, Touring Cars, GT/GTS Sportscars, and Prototype Sportscars. In ’98, won PSR GT1 Championship. In ’86, won British Formula 3 Championship.
